Towson University's early-stage spinouts could secure $10,000 of grant funding in an eight-week accelerator provisionally slated for summer 2020.
Towson University will open a new accelerator in summer 2020 for early-stage businesses including spinouts, Technical.ly reported yesterday.
The program , dubbed StartTUp Accelerator, will take place three times each year, with the first cohort proceeding from June to July 24 subject to public health requirements for Covid-19.
To be eligible, applicants will need to demonstrate a near-finalised minimum viable product. Entries will close on April 10.
Participants will receive $10,000 in non-dilutive funding, office space and coaching, before pitching to investors on October 8. Towson will dedicate one annual cohort to student-founded businesses.
The university expects future cohorts to be sited at the former Maryland National Guard Armory in Towson, providing bespoke office space as well as areas for collaborations and public meetings.
