University of Tartu is getting a new tech transfer company after assistance from CEE-facing consulting firm Civitta.

University of Tartu is to establish a new Estonia-based holding company for its tech transfer operation called UniTartu Ventures.
The university was advised by central and eastern European-facing consulting firm Civitta, which aims to employ best-practices at leading TTOs as well as its internal fund management expertise.
Erik Puura, vice-rector for development at University of Tartu, said: “With a university-owned private limited company, we can help researchers and also students to launch their business by directing the university’s intellectual property to startups they establish and by looking for investors for that.”
