NYU-founded cognitive skills building software developer Statespace secured investors including Khosla Ventures to bring its overall funding to $19m.
Statespace, a US-based occupational training software developer spun out of New York University, has received $15m in a series A round led by venture firm Khosla Ventures, TechCrunch has reported.
VC firm June Fund took part in the round alongside existing investors including startup studio Expa and venture capital firms FirstMark Capital and Lux Capital.
Founded in 2017, Statespace develops artificial intelligence and cognitive science-driven software to enable people to practice skills relevant to specific occupations.
The company’s flagship product, dubbed Klutch.gg, replicates the physics of first-person shooter games so that e-sports players and enthusiasts can practice their aim.
Statespace is also developing software geared towards digital therapeutics and general cognitive analytics. The funding is expected to aid the expansion of its workforce, building on a doubling in headcount since mid-2019.
Wayne Mackey, Statespace’s founder and CEO, told TechCrunch that Klutch.gg currently has 500,000 monthly active users, a 400% increase from January 2020.
FirstMark Capital led a $2.5m seed round for Statespace in August 2019 that featured Expa, Lux Capital and WndrCo, following $1.5m received in earlier rounds from investors including venture funds Joyance Partners and Social Starts, according to TechCrunch.
