Smart home technology manufacturer Sousei Technology also collected funding from Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance in a round that will help it deliver upgrades and additional services.
Japan-based smart home technology manufacturer Sousei Technology has obtained ¥450m ($4.1m) in a round backed by Kyoto University Innovation, the university venture fund of Kyoto University, according to VentureTimes.
The round was led by insurer Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance and also featured Capital Corporation and Shinkin Capital.
Sousei Technology was spun out from residential property developer Sousei Corporation in August 2018 to create smart home products that appear aligned with the high-class aesthetic and functionality targeted by Sousei Corp’s housing stock.
The offshoot’s flagship product is a household operating system, Home OS, that enables residents to manage appliances, internet-of-things devices and technical documents.
Sousei Technology will use the capital to upgrade the functionality of its existing services and to start development on a new generation of smart home products.
