Eddyfi/NDT has agreed to purchase UCL spinout Senceive for an undisclosed amount.
Senceive, a UK-based wireless conditioning monitoring systems developer spun out of University College London, has been acquired by industrial technology group Eddyfi/NDT for an unspecified amount.
Senceive will operate as a separate brand, under its existing name.
Founded in 2005, Senceive designs and manufactures wireless condition monitoring sensors for civil engineering, rail and mining applications such as ensuring the structural integrity of tunnels.
Throughout its history, the spinout relied on organic growth, grant funding and loans rather than seeking venture capital.
Martin Theriault, CEO of Eddyfi/NDT, said: “With the acquisition of Senceive, we are taking our first steps in infrastructure monitoring, a critical, dynamic and huge market powered by innovation and technological advances.
“The timing is perfect to increase focus on this sector – with the global pandemic clearly demonstrating the need to reduce site visits by using wireless remote monitoring solutions.
“We see a great synergy between the test and inspection expertise within our business and the longer-term condition monitoring capability of Senceive.”
