The regional TTO system has launched at least 533 businesses since 2014 and now anchors a deep tech drive sponsored by Bpifrance.

France’s regionalised system of tech transfer offices Réseau Satt has passed the 500-spinout landmark.
In its annual figures for the year ending July 1, 2020, Réseau Satt revealed it has launched a total of 533 businesses since it was founded in 2014.
A total of 115 new spinouts were established during the 2019-20 financial year, along with 168 new licence agreements and 2,368 pre-spinout projects.
The TTOs have poured €466m ($551m at today’s exchange rate) into maturing research from its affiliates and have awarded 1,067 commercialisation licences to companies.
France’s 13 Satt offices anchor the government’s deep tech innovation strategy, placed under the supervision of state-owned investment bank Bpifrance in 2019.
Deals in the area have included a $3.3m round for Écoles Normales Supérieure-founded quantum computing developer Alice and Bob in May 2020.
