Brooke Beier, already responsible for Purdue’s tech transfer office, has been promoted to senior vice-president of commercialisation.

Purdue Research Foundation (PRF), the non-profit foundation responsible for protecting Purdue University’s intellectual property and promote entrepreneurial activities, appointed Brooke Beier as senior vice-president of commercialisation today.
Beier has been serving as vice-president of the Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) since 2018, having first joined the tech transfer office in 2013. Her promotion expands her duties to also overseeing entrepreneurship and commercialisation hub Purdue Foundry.
Beier’s time with the OTC has coincided with a doubling of patent applications and licensed technologies, a 50% increase in the number of invention disclosures and a trebling in the number of patents granted and spinouts formed.
Beier said: “OTC ranked number six in the world for the number of patents it received from the US Patent and Trademark Office in 2020. Purdue Foundry has helped launch more than 350 companies and raise more than $40m in investments and non-dilutive funds since it was founded.”
She added: “PRF wants the process of disclosing inventions and obtaining patent protection to be as smooth as possible so Purdue inventors and entrepreneurs can be as successful as possible.
“Ensuring the process is clear and that inventors know where to go for assistance will be key. I also want to ensure potential licensees and entrepreneurs find engaging with our teams to be intuitive.”
