Yin will raise a fund to back deep tech developed at university labs in her new role.

Xiaoming Yin, a former senior investment manager at Lockheed Martin Ventures, the investment arm of the US aerospace and defence company, has moved to university research-focused venture capital firm Grit Ventures as a managing partner.

Grit Ventures, which leads early-stage rounds in research from university labs, has several spinouts in its portfolio, including Apptronik, a developer of humanoid robots spun out from the University of Texas at Austin, and MonoLets, a supply chain data technology developed at University of California, Berkeley.

Yin will help raise a new fund at Grit Ventures to back deep tech research emerging from university labs, she said in a LinkedIn post announcing her new position.

Yin worked for nearly eight years at CVC Lockheed Martin Ventures where she invested in 20 startups.
