Twelve teams will be given the opportunity to participate in the ten-week accelerator, which is also backed by corporates Vodafone Ireland and Ericsson.

Entries are now being accepted for the inaugural 5G/internet-of-things (IoT) Accelerator Programme, a ten-week initiative backed by University College Dublin’s tech transfer and innovation unit, NovaUCD, according to Telecompaper.
NovaUCD is sponsoring the accelerator together with mobile phone network operator Vodafone Ireland and communications technology supplier Ericsson.
Twelve teams will be selected from a shortlist drawn up by experts from the three partners to begin the course in May 2019, with each gaining the chance to prove the commercial and technical merits of their 5G and IoT concepts.
The initiative is open to Ireland-based and international applicants, including academic researchers as well as management of startups and established businesses.
Vodafone and Ericsson are expected to offer their expertise through the scheme, which will give participants opportunities including access to investors and tuition on how to successfully create a venture.
The 5G/IoT Accelerator Programme’s inaugural cohort will wrap up its activities at the end of July, ahead of a final pitching event scheduled for early September. Applications must be submitted by April 26.
