Scott Morley has been appointed as director of the Coulter@Pitt medtech accelerator, in addition to his duties as entrepreneur-in-residence at the university's Innovation Institute.

Scott Morley (pictured), founder and principal of medtech consultancy 3Rivers MedTech, has been appointed program director of University of Pittsburgh’s Coulter@Pitt accelerator.
Coulter@Pitt is operated by the Swanson School of Engineering. The accelerator was previously led by program director Allison Formal, who left the university in February 2019 to pursue new opportunities elsewhere.
Morley is a graduate of University of Pittsburgh, having gained a BSc in bioengineering from the Swanson School of Engineering and an MBA in marketing from the Katz Graduate School of Business.
Morley’s career began at ALung Technologies, a medical device spinout of University of Pittsburgh, where his achievements included becoming lead engineer and leading clinical trials in India and Germany resulting in product approvals.
He has been an entrepreneur-in-residence at the University of Pittsburgh Innovation Institute, where he has been supporting the commercialisation of life sciences technologies with a focus on medical devices and diagnostics.
His dual appointment is expected to strengthen the commercialisation of biomedical research.
Morley said: “Pitt has taken great strides to develop a new culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. University research is a primary catalyst for growth of the Pittsburgh life sciences industry.
“I am very appreciative of the opportunity to work with our partners across Pitt and the region as we seek to drive important advances in healthcare to successful commercialisation for the benefit of patients and our regional economy.”
