IU Angel Network will give the university’s businesses access to angel funding in pre-seed, seed and series A rounds.
IU Ventures, the innovation support unit of Indiana University, provided an in-depth look at its new angel network initiative yesterday.
IU Angel Network will put early-stage Indiana University-linked startups in touch with qualified investors affiliated to the university willing to invest in pre-seed, seed and series A rounds.
Angel investors who sign up to the initiative will have access to experienced IU alumni who will help them review available investment opportunities and exchange strategic ideas.
The network is intended to bridge the gap for IU alumni who want to philanthropically support the university’s mission while also engaging with its incubation and venture capital strategy.
The announcement comes after IU Ventures’ revamp earlier in August 2019, a move intended to emphasise a wide range of innovation and entrepreneurship services which also includes IU Philanthropic Venture Fund and The Quarry.
Tony Armstrong, president and chief executive of IU Ventures, said: “As we talked to alums about the IU Philanthropic Venture Fund, several of them commented that they wanted to support the university philanthropically, but they were also interested in our track record of success in incubating, launching and exiting new ventures.
“Now, with the addition of the IU Angel Network, whether you want to donate or give of your time or invest in IU-affiliated startups, we have all of those options available through IU Ventures. We are providing many different ways for people to engage.”
