Polytechnic University of Valencia spinout VLC Photonics has been bought by Hitachi for an undisclosed sum nine years after it was founded.
VLC Photonics, a Spain-based photonic integrated circuit design spinout of Polytechnic University of Valencia, has been purchased by conglomerate Hitachi for an unspecified figure.
Founded in 2011, VLC Photonics provides photonic engineering services to a diverse list of clients in areas such as telecoms, data communications, biophotonics and automotive sensing.
The spinout will become a subsidiary of Hitachi and the corporate expects to offer a more comprehensive suite of products to customers as the need for fast broadband speeds continues to increase.
VLC Photonics does not appear to have disclosed any funding.
