Barocal, a UK-based zero-carbon refrigeration technology spinout of University of Cambridge, raised £1.3m ($1.8m) in a funding round backed by tech transfer office Cambridge Enterprise today. The round was led by commercialisation firm IP Group. Barocal’s technology relies on solid-stage, temperature-changing materials rather than refrigerant gases commonly used today. Cambridge Enterprise made the investment as part of its new sustainability initiative.
