Max Planck spinout The Captury has been acquired by Dari Motion for an undisclosed amount.

The Captury, a Germany-based motion capture technology spinout of Max Planck Institute for Informatics, has agreed to an acquisition by sports and medicine-focused motion analytics technology producer Dari Motion.
Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. The spinout will continue to operate as an independent business and maintain its offices in the city of Saarbrücken.
Founded in 2013, The Captury has developed motion capture technology that is able to detect movements quickly and realistically without the need for markers required by comparable approaches.
The spinout’s technology has attracted clients in the entertainment and medical industries, including international groups such as Fox and Disney, as well as multiple universities.
Florian Kirschenhofer, senior startup and portfolio manager at tech transfer office Max Planck Innovation, said: “The Captury has once again shown that basic research is an excellent basis for innovative products with a high benefit for users.
“We are also pleased that the location of Saarbrücken will be preserved by the buyer and that even additional jobs will be created there in the medium term.”
