Every day, Global University Venturing rounds up the smaller investments from across the university innovation ecosystem in its deal net.
Citadel AI, a Japan-based developer of artificial intelligence-focused cybersecurity technology, picked up ¥100m ($915,000) in seed funding from UTokyo Innovation Platform, a venture capital vehicle for University of Tokyo, and VC firm Anri today, according to The Bridge. Citadel AI launched in December 2020 and aims to automatically monitor and protect enterprise AI systems.
Lithium Lasers, an Italy-based laser technology producer spun out of Politecnico di Milano, has completed a €700,000 ($820,000) seed round backed by university venture fund Poli360, managed by 360 Capital Partners on behalf of the polytechnic. The spinout, founded in 2019, is working on ultra-short pulse lasers for scientific and industrial applications such as femtosecond laser lithography.
