Intel has acquired virtual assistant creator Indisys, one of Intel Capital's portfolio companies.

Intelligent Dialogue Systems (Indisys), a Spain-based artificial intelligence company which can provide companies with human-like ‘intelligent virtual assistants’ to handle customer service, has been acquired for an undisclosed amount of money by US microprocessor maker Intel, whose corporate venturing unit Intel Capital led a $5m investment round for Indisys in late 2012.

The acquisition price is reported to be higher than $26m.

Pilar Manchon, chief executive officer of Indisys, has joined Intel’s R&D department.
