Replay Technologies, creator of a 3D video format for sports matches, has added the telecoms company to an investor base already containing Samsung in a $13.5m round.

Israel-based augmented reality technology provider Replay Technologies secured $13.5m on Monday in a series B round led by Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners (DTCP), telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom’s early-stage investment unit.

Replay is the developer of FreeD, a video format that can create 3D-pixels of the entire surface area of a sporting arena, allowing viewers to in effect choose the perspective from which they want to watch sporting events.
