Nanopharmaceutical researcher Cerulean has secured $15m to close a series D round which was partially funded by existing investor Eli Lilly.

Small Bone Innovations, an orthopaedics company previously backed by Goldman Sachs and Olympus, has secured a $43m loan from the VC division of the Orix Corporation.

The fund has made five investments - one investment, heart monitoring company, AliveCor (pictured) - and the money will come from Qualcomm's existing allocation to its corporate venturing unit.
