BioMotiv, a US-based medical devices company, has raised $21m in its series A round from a consortium including University Hospitals Health System and the Harrington family.

These investors are: Advance Publications, AH Belo, Community Newspaper, Cox Media Group, EW Scripps Company, Gannett, GateHouse Media, Hearst, Lee Enterprises, MediaNews Group, McClatchy Company, and Washington Post Company.

In February last year, Versartis raised $21m in its series B round from a company including drugs group Amunix.

In September 2011, Crescendo raised $31m in its C round with a further $25m in venture debt and buyout option provided by strategic investor Myriad Genetics.

Janrain, a US-based user management platform for social websites, has raised $33m from a consortium including software provider Salesforce.

US-based big data services comapny Guavus has raised $30m in its series D round.

Alongside Citi Ventures and Qualcomm Ventures in the C round were venture capital firms True Ventures, which led the consortium, Sutter Hill, Fontinalis Partners and RockPort Capital Partners.
