Wei Soon Lum has left the VC unit at bank Standard Chartered to join the Singapore office of Malaysian bank CIMB.

Wei Soon Lum has left his role on the venture building team of SC Ventures, the CVC unit of the UK multinational bank Standard Chartered.
Lum joined the team in Singapore in August 2022. Before that, he was a director of partnership and innovation at OCBC, a Singaporean bank.
His new role is as new economy lead at CIMB, a Malaysian bank, where he is based in the Singapore office.
SC Ventures was launched in 2018. It is both a venture builder and a CVC unit. It has started over 30 new companies and holds 23 in its portfolio.
The CVC unit invests globally in startups in several sectors, including fintech and AI. Its portfolio companies include DataRobot, an AI applications platform, and Algbra, a banking app.
