Cherie van Wensveen has joined King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KASUT) as principal of commercialisation.

Van Wensveen was an investment director at Australian university spinout investment fund Uniseed for eight months before joining the commercisliation arm of the Saudi university.

She was a commercialisation manager at Australian government research centre CSIRO before that.

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology’s startups have raised more than $1bn in total investment, according to the university.

Its commercialisation arm, KAUST Innovation Ventures, co-invests with local and international VC firms. Its spinouts include Edama, a waste recycling technology, and eCopter, a maker of electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles.
