Gemma Sturt assumed a senior investment manager role and will help Werfen’s CVC unit back digital healthtech startups.

Gemma Sturt

We Venture Capital, the corporate venture capital arm of Spanish medical equipment manufacturer Werfen, has hired Gemma Sturt as senior investment manager.

Launched in 2023, We Venture Capital targets startups working on diagnostics and digital medical tools. The fund has an evergreen structure and has disclosed four portfolio companies including genomics tertiary analysis platform Zetta and Capitainer, which develops blood sampling technology.

In her new role, Sturt will invest in digital healthcare technology developers globally from seed to series B stages.

Sturt has more than five years of experience investing in life sciences startups. Most recently, she was investment manager at healthcare innovation lab and accelerator operator Pioneer Group.

“Her technical degree in combination with hands-on background in building startups further strengthens our team but also aligns with the way We VC work in supporting our portfolio as an engaged and hands-on investor,” We Venture Capital head Louise Warme said in a LinkedIn post.
