Raimundo Sobral is stepping back into leadership of startups after a year-long foray in venture investment.

In a return to entrepreneurship, Raimundo Sobral is leaving Cencosud Ventures, the VC arm of Chilean retail giant Cencosud, to lead drink supplement startup Irio.

It caps off a year as an investor on the Cencosud Ventures team, before which he spent nearly two years as an entrepreneur-in-residence at the unit.

Before joining Cencosud, Sobral co-founded and was head of sales for Chilean micro-mobility platform provider LiteRide for more than four years. He remained on the board until he started his investor role at the CVC last year.

His departure comes just weeks after that of Cencosud Ventures’ unit chief José Pascual.
