After nearly three years at the helm, his next role will also be in sports technology investment.

Mike Shapiro has left sports holding company City Football Group, where he has been head of ventures for nearly three years.

He joined media conglomerate Comcast’s venturing unit, Comcast Ventures, as investment partner, and will focus on sports technology investments.

City Football Group owns 12 professional football teams in five continents, including Manchester City FC, New York City FC, Club Bolívar, Melbourne City FC and Yokohama F. Marinos.  

Before joining City Football Group, Shapiro was director of innovation and venture investments at Major League Baseball. He also held roles as MBA admissions consultant at The Sparrey Consultant Group, as well as in content strategy and acquisition at Verizon.
