Semih Kaçan, formerly investment manager at Swisscom Ventures, has taken up the new position after nearly two years and a half at the unit .

Switzerland-based telecommunications firm Swisscom has promoted Semih Kaçan to investment director for its corporate venturing subsidiary, Swisscom Ventures.

Formed in 2007, Swisscom Ventures targets cloud, cybersecurity, financial technology, big data, artificial intelligence, digital media and telecom companies, having made more than 70 investments. It has offices in Zurich and Lausanne, Switzerland as well as Silicon Valley, US.

Kaçan joined Swisscom Ventures in early 2021 as an investment manager, and he helped the team source and invest in financial, web3, gaming and esports technology developers. He also helped connect portfolio companies with Swisscom’s business units to bring out strategic value.

Before Swisscom Ventures, Kaçan held a one-year stint at Swisscom as a senior digital business developer, where he executed M&A transactions in fintech, blockchain and videogame.

Kaçan had spent more than a decade in consulting, corporate strategy, business development and asset management roles at companies including Credit Suisse, BearingPoint and Haspa. He also co-founded and served as chairman at Blocksport, an esports-focused NFT and fan token platform.
