CVC veteran Ricardo dos Santos has left ResMed and joined Takeda’s digital health investment arm as partner and head of its Venture Studio.
Ricardo dos Santos has departed from medical device producer ResMed and joined Takeda Digital Ventures (TDV), a corporate venturing unit of Japanese pharmaceutical firm Takeda.
ResMed hired dos Santos in 2017 and he spent nearly seven years at the company. He started out as an external consultant in corporate innovation and venturing before taking the position of senior director of strategy and ventures and entrepreneur in residence (EIR) a year later.
Dos Santos was eventually made vice president of strategy and ventures in addition to his EIR function in mid-2020, where he focused on ResMed’s digital health venture studio called the Primery.
In his new job at TDV as partner and head of Venture Studio, dos Santos will reprise a similar role, helping lead digital health startup creation, incubation and investments.
Formed in 2018 and based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, TDV targets early-stage virtual first care and digital health companies based across North America and Europe.
TDV has a sister unit launched in 2001 in San Diego, California called Takeda Ventures, which invests in oncology, gastroenterology, inflammation and neuroscience therapeutic platform developers.
