Pedro Compani has joined the Brazilian digital bank Banco BS2 as head of corporate venturing.

Compani was head of new business and products at Neoway, a Brazilian data analytics company that provides insights for business clients. It was acquired by B3, Brazil’s stock exchange, in 2021.

Before that, Compani worked as director of private equity and venture capital for BTG Pactual, a Brazilian investment bank.

BS2 launched its strategic investment arm, BS2 Ventures, in December, with a fund size of $16.7m. It targets startups that can provide a strategic advantage in the financial sector, whether that be through fintech directly, or complimentary technologies that could work alongside a business’s financial processes.

It has so far announced investments in two Brazilian startups: Bloxs, which provides a real estate crowdfunding platform, and Somos Young, which provides technology services for higher education institutions to attract and retain more customers.

BS2 Ventures plans to spend the capital by midway through 2026, in 12 to 15 companies.
