He has moved to M Ventures after leading R&D at the corporate’s electronics business

Vijay Kris Narasimhan is joining German pharmaceutical company Merck Group’s venture arm, M Ventures, to be director for technology and AI investments.

After being director of R&D at EMD Electronics, Merck Group’s electronics business unit, for the past nearly three years, Narasimhan is joining the CVC unit to lead its technology and advanced materials investment activity, which sits alongside its healthcare investments.

In his new role, he will focus on investments related to AI for material and molecular design, physical AI , foundational AI and enterprise AI.  

“Now I get to tap into the global external ecosystem to find and back the founders building the next generation of AI for science capabilities and connect them strategically to a company I love working for,” he said on LinkedIn.

He had managed EMD Electronics’ research incubators before leading its R&D activities. Before that he was a research engineer at Intermolecular, the advanced materials innovation company that was acquired by Merck Group in 2019.
