Having completed his MBA and taken a couple of interim roles, Nikolas Koenning is back at The Cigna Group Ventures as principal.

Nikolas Koenning has returned to The Cigna Group Ventures as principal after leaving in mid-2023.
Having first joined the healthcare and insurance company’s corporate VC unit as senior associate in 2021, Koenning has now gone back after completing his MBA at London Business School, he announced on LinkedIn.
In the interim, he had also had a role fundraising at low-energy computing company Vaire Computing in early 2024, and as interim head of strategy at mobile-based neurology care platform provider Neu Health – now Kneu – during the first half of this year.
Prior to his first stint at what was then just Cigna Ventures, he’d spent three years at UnitedHealth Group, first in finance and corporate M&A roles before spending a year at its VC arm.
The Cigna Group Ventures’ more recent investments include participation in a $28m series A round for AI-powered healthcare workflow platform provider Automize AI and a series A extension for virtual cardiometabolic care provider 9amHealth.
