Greger will manage the global portfolio for Hubert Burda’s CVC unit.

John Greger, Burda Principal Investments

German publisher Hubert Burda’s investment arm, Burda Principal Investments, has appointed its chief product officer John Greger as portfolio partner.

Formed in 2016, the venture arm invests in later-stage digital technology and media groups. It has about 30 active portfolio companies. Its 23-person team is based in Germany, the UK and Singapore.

Burda Principal Investments hired Greger in 2019 as head of product after he spent a decade in various product roles at companies including ImmobilienScout24, Rocket Internet, Mister Spex and Vinted.

In his new role, Greger will continue to be chief product officer and manage the unit’s digital business portfolio in the US, Europe and Asia.

Greger sits on boards of portfolio companies including shared living space provider Habyt, pet health company Felmo and Miinto, which runs an online fashion retail platform.

This story has been corrected to reflect that Greger was promoted rather than joined the venture unit.
