Sophia Nadur, the BP Ventures managing director that co-founded the energy company's electrification business, will now advise startups.

Corporate venturer and innovation expert Sophia Nadur has left petroleum producer BP, where she was managing director at corporate venture arm BP Ventures, as she looks to advise early and growth-stage startups in other capacities.

Having joined the energy company in 2018 as global e-mobility innovation director, Nadur co-created its e-mobility business, including its electrification platform BP Pulse. Since 2020, she has been MD for BP Ventures in Asia and the Middle East.

“I am now stepping away from BP to build a portfolio of non-executive director and strategic advisory roles,” she said on LinkedIn.

Before joining BP, Nadur served a nearly four-year stint as global innovation director for boutique innovation consultancy Ideas 2 Launch, prior to which she was director of innovation at British American Tobacco.

Earlier roles included a lawyer at law firm Gowling, innovation director at Mondelez and marketing director at fellow confectionery company Mars.
