Alastair Hick, who has spent almost the past two decades in commercialisation roles at Monash University, will take over from Peter Devine in December.

Alastair Hick, chief commercialisation officer at Monash University, will succeed Peter Devine as CEO of Uniseed, an Australian fund that invests in spinouts from several Australian universities.
Hick has spent the past 18 years at Monash University in various technology transfer and commercialisation roles for the Australian university. Since 2021, he has served as Monash’s inaugural chief commercialisation officer in which he oversaw the university’s IP commercialisation programme and established proof-of-concept and investment funds.
He will take over from Devine, who is leaving his role as head of Uniseed in December after 20 years in the role.
Uniseed invests in spinouts from nine Australian universities, including the universities of Sydney, Melbourne, Macquarie and Monash. It also invests in spinouts from the Australian government lab CSIRO.
