Scott Pinizzotto is leaving French utility Engie’s corporate venture capital arm after almost a decade at the unit, most recently as senior director of investments.

Engie hired Pinizzotto in 2015 and was part of the initial team for Engie New Ventures when it was formed as the successor to GDF Suez New Ventures, which was launched the previous year before the corporate rebranded to Engie.

Pinizzotto, who helped shape the €250m fund’s investment strategy, particularly with regard to cleantech, said in a LinkedIn post announcing the move that he is seeking new venture capital and startup prospects in sustainability and climate technology. He was named a GCV Emerging Leader in 2022.

Before joining Engie New Ventures, Pinizzotto led the product management of energy and sustainability technology provider Ecova’s utility energy efficiency programmes, staying with the company after it was acquired by Engie in 2014.
