Cemex veteran Jesus Ortiz de la Fuente takes over as CVC head from Gonzalo Galindo Gout, who left in December 2025.

Jesus Ortiz de la Fuente has been appointed as the head of Cemex Ventures, the corporate VC and open innovation arm of Mexico-based construction business Cemex.

Fuente takes over from Gonzalo Galindo Gout, who had led the unit since its launch in 2017 and left at the end of last year.

Fuente joined Cemex in 2004 as an executive trainee and has been with the company ever since in a range of roles. Before taking over as head of the CVC unit, Fuente was the director of strategic planning and corporate management at Cemex.

Over the past six months, Cemex Ventures has seen three team members leave the unit, including Galindo. Others include Mateo Zimmermann Gonzalez, who was head of venture investments and partnerships, and Juan Moreno, who was an investor.

Cemex Ventures focuses on investments globally in green construction, enhanced productivity, construction supply chain and future of construction. The unit also helps early-stage companies seeking support with market growth through pilots, research and development testing activities, or by giving them access to their network of investors, VCs and accelerators.
