She joins oil and gas company Perenco’s cleantech fund after four years at Shell Ventures.

Liliya Chechel has left Shell Ventures after four years to join Taranis Carbon Ventures, the investment and impact project development arm of oil and gas company Perenco Group.
“We’re actively on the lookout for bold founders and breakthrough ideas — especially in [carbon dioxide removal], carbon-to-value, and broader decarbonisation space,” said Chechel.
She joined Shell Ventures as investment principal in May 2021, after a nearly seven-year stint at advisory firm KPMG, where she worked on deal advisory and valuations, financial restructuring, capital raises and more.
Taranis Investments, which is a subsidiary of Perenco, has under its umbrella four main funds, Taranis Carbon Ventures, Taranis Energy for Africa, Taranis Decommissioning Fund, and Taranis Nature-based Solutions.
Launched just last year, Taranis Carbon Ventures’ portfolio includes circular plastic companies Pryme and Novoloop, CO2-to-products startup Econic, circular fashion company Circ, and carbon capture technology developer Cool Planet Technologies. It also has LP positions in Emerald and Arctern Ventures.
