Four years after he left BMW's CVC unit for venture firm Fifth Wall, former associate Cedric Char is joining its US office as principal.

Cedric Char has rejoined carmaker BMW’s corporate venture arm, as a principal, after four years at venture capital firm Fifth Wall.
BMW i Ventures originally hired Char as an associate in 2019 following a three-year stint as an analyst at investment bank Financial Technology Partners. He left two years later for a senior associate position at property technology-focused Fifth Wall, later ascending to a vice-president at the firm.
“I’m excited to (re)join the BMW i Ventures team as a principal,” Char said in a LinkedIn post announcing the move.
“I’m thrilled to be back with this exceptional team and to partner with founders that are building at the intersection of software, AI and physical assets to reimagine how we move and make things.”
BMW i Ventures invests in transportation, mobility, manufacturing and energy technology developers, providing up to $10m in funding, focusing on series A and B stage. Char will be part of its California-based North American team.
