Arnaud Autret has joined BOLD, the VC arm of the French beauty company, to head European startup investments.

Arnaud Autret, former head of European investments at Illumina Ventures, has joined L’Oréal’s investment arm, Bold as investment director.

Autret will head investments in Europe for the French beauty company based at its Paris headquarters.

Autret spent three years at Illumina Ventures, the corporate VC arm of the global healthtech company. Before that, he was investment director at M Ventures, the CVC unit of German science and technology company Merck.

L’Oréal’s VC arm, Bold – Business Opportunities for L’Oréal Development – invests in technologies transforming the beauty industry. It has around 30 companies in its portfolio. Recent investments include Debut, an AI-driven ingredient discovery platform for skin longevity, and Uni, a body care brand.
