David Rowe left 1835i, the investment arm of ANZ Banking Group, after it was shuttered in October.

David Rowe

David Rowe, the former head of ventures at the shuttered corporate VC arm of ANZ Banking Group, has joined Australian fintech GXE in an operational role.

Rowe had led 1835i, the VC investment arm of Australian and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ), since 2023. He joined the investment unit in 2021 as an investment principal.

ANZ shut down the external innovation arm in October this year following a financial reporting misconduct scandal. The bank has undergone a restructuring, which includes the cutting of 3,500 employees. All 14 members of the 1831i team were reportedly made redundant.

Rowe will lead GXE’s licensing and business development team. The company’s software helps fund managers, family offices and investors manage private assets.
