After four years with BMW i Ventures, Allen Chen has announced he is stepping down from his investment role.

Allen Chen has announced he is leaving his role as an investor with the German carmaker BMW’s corporate venturing unit after 4 years.
He joined BMW i Ventures in 2021. While at the unit, he invested in Phoenix Tailings, which draws useable metals out of mining waste, and Skylo, which makes satellite communication technology.
Chen worked for the aerospace company Lilium, which makes personal air vehicles. Earlier in his career, he was a consultant with Capgemini Invest and L.E.K Consulting.
BMW i Ventures was founded in 2011 and invests worldwide in sustainability, transportation, manufacturing and supply chain technology startups. Its latest fund, which closed in 2021, is $300m. Its most recent investment was the $11m seed round for Estes Energy, which makes car battery technology.
