After leading Hero Enterprise’s startup investment activity, Varun Akhnoor is looking to grow the cement company’s footprint.

Varun Akhnoor has joined Indian cement manufacturer JK Cement to lead its startup initiative, JK Cement Startup Foundry, focused on corporate innovation and seed funding.
He has most recently spent over a year heading up conglomerate Hero Enterprise’s startup investment and incubation arm, The Brij Incubator & Seed Fund. Akhnoor has extensive experience in running innovation and incubation initiative. His career includes advising on corporate innovation at VC firm VentureWave, leading the Confederation of Indian Industry’s entrepreneurship and startups innovation centre, as well as leading incubators at various institutions.
Just over a year ago, JK Cement signed a memorandum of understanding with India’s Department for Promotion Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to collaborate on supporting 10 startups in the sector over the course of the year.
