Thailand-based agro business Betagro has announced the launch of its corporate venture capital fund, Betagro Ventures, DealStreetAsia reported.
The new venture arm will invest from a $30m fund and back early-stage startups in the foodtech and agritech sectors. Betagro Ventures will focus on startups improving access to safe and high-quality foods; developing new sustainable protein sources; and producing sustainable agro-industrial food supply chains.
In addition, startups working with Betagro Ventures will have access to Betagro’s ecosystem, domain expertise and partnership opportunities. Betagro also plans to build businesses internally through a venture building initiative.
Betagro invested in Infinite Root, a Germany-based alternative meats producer, which raised $58m in a series B round this year.
