The energy provider's National Grid Partners unit has deployed a total of $24m to Cogniac, AptEdge, Finite State, TS Conductor, Sync Computing and Risilience

UK-headquartered electricity distributor National Grid has disclosed a total of $24m in funding for six portfolio companies provided by corporate venturing subsidiary National Grid Partners (NGP). NGP led visual intelligence software provider Cogniac’s $20m series B1 round last week, and the other funding recipients include customer support technology developer AptEdge, and Finite State, a provider of cybersecurity software for connected devices. The other three are conductor technology provider TS Conductor; Sync Computing, an MIT spinout which has developed a cloud computing optimisation tool; and the only non-US company, Risilience, which spun out of University of Cambridge’s Centre for Risk Studies and which has created an emissions-lowering analytics product. Lisa Lambert, NGO’s founder and president, said: “As we mark our third anniversary, we are proud to invest in companies that support National Grid’s goals of digitalisation, decentralisation and decarbonisation.”
