InMotion has hired Nasrolahi as principal to supercharge its strategic investments into sustainable automotive startups
Sam Nasrolahi is joining InMotion Ventures, the corporate venture arm of UK-based multinational automobile corporation, Jaguar Land Rover, as principal.
She will be working alongside the current InMotion principal, Alex Smout, who has worked for the firm for nearly six years.
Nasrolahi comes to InMotion Ventures from Via, the ridesharing company, where she oversaw the ridesharing and on-demand delivery services across the EMEA and US. She also worked as an M&A analyst for oil and gas conglomerate, BP, focusing particularly on sustainable mobility.
“We are thrilled to have Sam join InMotion Ventures as our new principal. Her corporate investing background at BP Ventures makes her the perfect addition as we identify new investment opportunities, and her operational experience at one of the mobility industry’s most exciting startups will be an invaluable resource for our portfolio founders as they continue to scale their businesses,” said Smout.
InMotion Ventures invests in mobility, fintech and smart transportation startups and has so far had three successful exits. These include rideshare company Lyft which raised a total of $4.9bn over 26 rounds and Validated, a restaurant-paying transportation service that was acquired by carsharing service, Reach Now in 2019.
Jaguar Land Rover is a $24.104bn automobile conglomerate that has recently created a specialist facility to test next generation EVs to further its aim of creating a more regenerative future.
“I’m really excited to join InMotion at this time as they look to ramp up their investment activity in the automotive sector,” Nasrolahi said. “The team’s reputable depth of knowledge and expertise, combined with its comprehensive network within the startup ecosystem, made it a perfect fit for me.”
