After nearly three years at Hearst Ventures, Munoz will focus on M&A and strategic investment opportunities in ecommerce.

Gabby Munoz, formerly managing director of media conglomerate Hearst’s corporate venturing arm, Hearst Ventures, has joined Hearst’s ecommerce business as senior vice-president for M&A and strategic investments.

The move comes after a nearly three-year stint at Hearst Ventures, which itself was preceded by several other roles at the media corporate since late 2012, including as finance VP for M&A, followed by another VP role for special projects, then for strategy and operations at the company’s newspaper business, before joining the venturing unit.

“I will be looking for acquisition and investment opportunities across the global ecommerce sector,” said Munoz in a LinkedIn post announcing her move.

Hearst Ventures’ current portfolio of nearly 60 startups includes media company BuzzFeed, ridesharing app Via, mobile gaming company Robin Games, insurance marketplace Insurify and drone monitoring platform Drone Base.

Prior to her time at Hearst, Munoz served as director of customer insights for fashion rental company Rent the Runway, co-founder of Exhibition A and had stints at General Atlantic and Merril Lynch.
