Ankit Harjai becomes CIO at MountTech Growth Fund after nearly two years at the CVC.
Ankit Harjai, the former head of CVC for India at engine manufacturer Cummins, has left the unit to join aerospace and defence-focused VC firm MountTech Growth Fund.
Harjai was at Cummins from late 2022 until earlier this year, during which time he backed automotive and energy-focused startups.
Harjai joins Mounttech Growth Fund Kavachh as chief investment officer, where he will back startups involved across sectors like defence and national security, space and aerospace, cybersecurity, semiconductors, communications, critical minerals and industrial sectors.
The fund focuses on companies up to series A, with initial tickets of between $1-3m. The fund has already backed GalaxEye Space, a multi-sensor imaging satellite developer.
Prior to his time at Cummins, Harjai had held several positions across strategy and corporate development at various companies, including a year-long stint in corporate development and M&A at Tech Mahindra and two years in strategy and corporate development at Elara Group, as well experience as an investor at Kalaari Capital.
He also has experience in management consultancy and product management across several companies.
