VC fund Next Ventures backs US university hospital OHSU’s spinouts

The Oregon Health & Science University is the sole academic medical centre in the US state of Oregon.

US venture capital firm Next Ventures has launched a $60m healthcare fund that will invest in spinouts and technologies from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).

Founded in 2019, Next Ventures is an early-stage VC that invests in healthcare startups. The new Next Ventures II fund is backed by state economic development agency Oregon Growth Board.

The fund’s investments include Oura Ring, Trail Library and Pair Team. These portfolio companies will partner with OHSU as part of the VC’s strategic partnership with the Portland-based academic medical centre.
