Fund

Switzerland-based startup incubator and accelerator operator Tenity raised an undisclosed amount for the first close for its Tenity Incubation Fund I, having secured commitments from corporates SIX Group, Julius Baer, UBS and Generali, the last two through their UBS Next and House of InsurTech Switzerland units. The fund will back early-stage insurance technology developers that graduated from the firm’s Tenity Flagship Incubation programmes from across Switzerland, Singapore, the Nordics and Baltics.

M&A

Online investment platform Acorns acquired GoHenry, a UK-based digital banking services targeting young people, for an undisclosed amount allowing payment services firm Nexi and banking group Citi to exit. GoHenry last raised money in a $55m round in October 2022.

Ecommcerce customer management software provider Capillary Technologies paid an undisclosed sum to buy Brierley, a US-based customer loyalty scheme provider backed by public relations group WPP. The corporate had invested $15m in Brierley in 1999 in return for a 20% stake.

Online shopping portal operator Bukalapak paid an undisclosed amount for a majority stake in iPrice Group, a Malaysia-based online price comparison platform backed by internet group Naver and its messaging platform spinoff, Line as well as telecommunications firm KDDI’s Open Innovation Fund, diversified trading group Itochu, conglomerate JG Summit and food delivery service Woowa Brothers.

Public markets

Apollomics, a US-based cancer therapy developer spun off by contract research organisation Crown Bioscience, closed a reverse merger with Nasdaq-listed special purpose acquisition company Maxpro Capital Acquisition Corp, with the company’s market capitalisation reaching $2.6bn after its first day of trading. Insurance firm Ping An had led a $124m series C round in 2020 through subsidiary Ping An Capital that took Apollomics’s overall funding to nearly $240m.

UK-based customer data management platform Quantexa secured $129m at a $1.8bn valuation in a series E round backed by financial services firms HSBC, BNY Mellon and ABN Amro. The round was led by Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC and included Warburg Pincus, Dawn Capital, British Patient Capital, Evolution Equity Partners and AlbionVC, taking the company’s overall funding to $369m.
