US software and semiconductor producer Nvidia has partnered with Singaporean ecosystem builder Tribe and government-backed agency Digital Industry Singapore to launch an accelerator for artificial intelligence-focused startups

The $3m Ignition AI Accelerator focuses on Singaporean AI startups. It will select 15 startups to join a four-month cohort with business and technical support in AI development and commercialisation.

The programme also includes training workshops codeveloped by Nvidia and Tribe and potential funding from government statutory board Enterprise Singapore’s Startup SG Tech grant.

Nvidia and Tribe will help startups get accredited through Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority, allowing them to bid for government and large enterprise contracts.

“The accelerator showcases Singapore’s strengths as a confluence of global technology leaders, emerging innovators and world-class infrastructure,” said Chan Ih-Ming, executive director and head of Digital Industry Singapore.
