Dan Reed Kyle Beatty

Dan Reed, president of American Family Ventures, has left the investment fund he founded more than 12 years ago. Kyle Beatty, who was managing director at the fund for eight years, has also left the company.

No details were given of where Reed and Beatty were moving to.

Reed, a former pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles, co-founded American Family Ventures originally in 2013 as the investment arm of American Family Insurance, the US-based insurance provider. It later evolved into a multi-LP venture fund, bringing in other insurance carriers as limited partners. The team’s fourth fund, a $444m vehicle raised in 2023, was backed by 25 companies in the insurance market.

Brittany Clements, who joined the 20+ person ventures team in 2022, is now managing director.
