Blaze O’Byrne, former partner at Citi Ventures, plans to focus on a new AI-driven venture.

Blaze O’Byrne has left his role as partner and director of venture investing at Citi Ventures, the corporate VC arm of US investment bank Citi. He plans to focus on a new AI-driven venture, as stated in a LinkedIn post announcing his move.
O’Byrne spent more than five years at Citi Ventures in various roles where he led series A to D investments in generative AI applications relevant to financial services, cybersecurity, developer tools and cloud infrastructure.
O’Byrne began his career as an investment banker in Australia, where he advised companies on capital raises, IPOs and M&A transactions, and later joined Sydney-based fintech accelerator H2 Ventures.
Prior to joining Citi Ventures, he completed his master’s degree where he was on the investment teams at Origin Ventures in Chicago and Underscore VC in Boston where he focused on B2B marketplaces, cloud infrastructure, developer tools, enterprise software and robotics.
The Citi Ventures team was founded in 2010 and is structured to invest on behalf of Citi’s US personal wealth, banking and client organisations, with a focus on fintech, enterprise security, digital assets and generative AI.
